The 2024 Global Climate Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro, concluded with world leaders making significant commitments to combat climate change. The summit, attended by representatives from over 190 countries, aimed to address the escalating climate crisis and chart a path toward a more sustainable future.

One of the most notable outcomes of the summit was the agreement to reduce global carbon emissions by 45% by 2030, compared to 2010 levels. This ambitious target was hailed as a crucial step in limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

To achieve this reduction, several major economies, including the United States, China, and the European Union, have pledged to accelerate their transition to renewable energy sources. The U.S. announced a $500 billion investment in clean energy infrastructure, while China committed to phasing out coal power by 2035. The EU has set a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, with significant funding allocated to green technologies and sustainable practices.
